Sexual Assault 101 *Also available in Spanish

This 1 – 1.5 hour training is available to general community members, and is great for college students, parent groups, religious institutions, and others. This introductory presentation helps attendees understand the nature and scope of sexual violence in our communities.  Attendees will have a better understanding of what sexual violence is, the difference between consent and coercion, and the many resources of Signs of Hope and other local and national organizations for people who may have experienced sexual violence.

If you have been sexually assaulted, or think you have been but are not sure, you are encouraged to go to University Medical Center (UMC) Hospital for an exam by a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).  The address for UMC is 1800 W. If an assault occurred more than 5 days ago, and you are unable to have a sexual assault exam, and have decided to make a report to police at this point, you have several options. You can contact the SOH offices and have an advocate accompany you to a police station or area command close to your home to make a report.
